Cheap fiberglass supplies

How much is my budget? Easy question! I don't have one. I'm from England and the immigration service won't let me work so, I have to get my supplies as cheaply as possible. Can you suggest REALLY cheap places to get fiberglass and resin? I paid just $140 for a boat with trailer and 65hp(1968) motor so, I need a LOT of supplies. I don't mind accepting charity either if there are any out there that help needy cases! Please let me know if you know of cheap/charity places that I can try for my supplies. Photos of the engine are at the link below and photos of the boat will be added soon. I also have a thread that concentrates on the fun I am having getting the motor to run.

I am officially "out of status" with the immigration services and am NOT allowed to work. If you would like to offer me a job and pay me cash in hand then I would be glad to work for you. If I work then I am committing a crime. Would you like me to be a criminal? Don't blame me for not working blame YOUR country and government! I have a job with a top US haulage firm that I can go back to as soon as the INS give me my work permit back!!! Offence WAS taken because you accuse me of laziness when you know neither anything about me or, my circumstances. If you cannot offer help like the decent people on here then please keep your opinions to yourself.

You might try the local chapter of the Salvation Army......

But I really Doubt that They, or Anybody Else is going to Give you Fiberglass, or Resin, Or the Gas that, that old OMC is going to Suck up........

I don't think it was meant to hurt your feelings. I think it was a helpful nudge to get you motivated....LOL! I am from Canada, and we treat people differently here....LOL! As for being a criminal, I think the US has enough of those (including there President)...LOL! Just joking my southern neighbors! I would not have accused you of being lazy until after I received all the information, circumstances and what not. So enjoy your time in the US (and leave as soon as you can...LOL!) Just joking again....LOL! I used to visit the states every year when I was young. (used to go to Pismo Beach, California) Great memories!

As for having supplies, some people who have done there restorations should have left overs for you. I think you may have to buy your own resin, because leftovers goes bad and gets thrown out. But there should be leftover fiberglass around I would imagine. I am sure the friendly American (non-judgemental) people will be able to help you out. Good Luck!

With your attitude I doubt very much that you will have a good day. Maybe one day you will be down on your luck and your opinion may very well change. As for Saskatoon2005' reply. I know a few Canadian people and have ALWAYS found them polite and helpful. I think I wrote this post incorrectly. The main idea was this:--

I need fiberglass and resin and am realise that I will have to buy my own. I am asking if anyone knows a cheap supplier where I can purchase it.

If anyone has any spare bits/parts left over that they think I may need then I would be willing to give what little monay I have for them. If anyone has any bits they don't want that I could have then, I would appreciate them very much and would give free advertising on my website or, if they lived nearby would work for the bits/parts etc.

I am CURRENTLY employed with USXpress Inc. I am suspended due to INS revoking my work permit due to a change in circumstances, (I left an abusive wife). Until I get a divorce I cannot even apply for another work permit. The ex wife to be is being a ***** about it and stringing it out for as long as possible.

I am NOT lazy, not spongeing simply asking for a little help.

Thankyou Patrick. I'm upto my neck making a new wiring harness for the engine but I will check them out as soon as I get clean hands again LoL. The wire was so corroded that its insulation is falling off as I try to work out which wire goes where

I don't know what your definition of "cheap" is but is been my experience that there is nothing "cheap" about fixing boats. Over the last few years supplies like resin, acitone, etc has been on a steady increase just like everything else. But also like anything else you get what you pay for. I'm sure if you look hard enough you will find something.

As for the abusive wife, I'm sure some of our boat building brothers in New Jersey would know of someone that could take care of that little problem for you. (just kidding)
