Well the good news today is that system pressure tested well, went back together; the engine started and she purred like a clatter-free kitten. The bad news is that my water impeller is not impelling. Gauge ran up to 180 and I shut her down. Maybe the water tube didn’t Seat properly when I put it back together 🤷🏻‍♂️ I just know im gonna have to break it open again, which means this was a huge waste of oil and time today.

If you have a new impeller then something is restricting flow.

I don’t have a thermostat installed on the engine, never have; it’s not right, but it’s never been an issue. I bring up the water tube because it’s happened before. When installing, the copper tube ends up being pushed too far up into the upper and doesn’t seat properly in the impeller housing. I’ll know more when I take it apart

The water tube was the issue. She’s working now. New order of business is poor performance over 2k RPM but I’ll start a new thread for that.

Start with basics- ignition components fuel supply ... assuming compression is ok

Thanks I’m suspicious of the cap/rotor. Tach is bouncing all over the place as i throttle up

Disconnect the tach as faulty tach can short ignition out .

Is it points in the distributor or est ? If points have they been cleaned and dwell set ?
