Some way, some how... just now coming upon this thread!

It is too late for us to take part, at this point, but keep us in mind for next season. We are docked at Irwin Marina; on the Lake side of the Chickamauga Dam.

We live right here and can easily do any leg work for the questions we don't already have answers.

Hope your color cruise went well!

Re: Chattanooga-Knoxville Cruise

Red & Chuck,

Just to update you, we did our cruise last week and we had a great time. We put in around noon on Wednesday at the TVA ramp near Hales Bar Marina and stayed at Hales Bar that night. Then, Thursday morning we headed out to Chattanooga and stayed at Marine Max that night. We left Chattanooga Friday afternoon went back to Hales Bar where we stayed Friday night. Saturday morning we packed everything away, loaded the boat and headed home. Everything went fine until one of the guys at the ramp said "Hey, do you know that you have a flat tire"? One of the six new tires on the trailer had a very large staple sticking out the sidewall. That set us back a few minutes. BTW, the people at Hales Bar Marina were very accommodating, just like both of you said.

We did all we could in Chattanooga, including the Aquarium, the downtown area and a bunch of sightseeing. The weather was kind of on the raw side with high winds and cooler temps, but the admiral and the boat handled it well. We took a lot of photos, so I'll have to post up a trip report, and we saw some very strange things along the way. All in all it was a great trip.

I want to thank both of you for all the input and the ideas, it was really appreciated. Now if I could just convince the admiral that going thru the locks is not that intimidating, we could go a lot further in both directions.

Thanks guys,
PB

Locking through is easy... once you're comfortable with it  let me know next time you come to town, I'll go through with y'all. see http://www.tva.gov/river/navigation/reclockthrough.htm

A lot of nice coves on the Chickamauga side for overnighting. From quiet areas to party ones with a lot of Lake in between.

We'll be happy to give tours or a map to anyone that comes to town :)
