Chat Site: Instant acessibility, of which iboats has.

They can be informational, a place just to say hello, a rant and they are blog sites of which also provide information, which iboats is.

Blogs:

A particular subject, news. They can contain text, images and media related topics and the ability to leave comment in an interactive format, they are textual. Can also be considered micro- blogging featuring short post, of which iboats is.

Information Site:

Has meaning in some context, can be conceived as data, job information, information on people, legal information, weather information etc:

So the consensus of most iboats users would fall under blogging or chatting to one another about boating, fishing, engine repair etc:

My consensus would be NOT to change "Dockside Chat, to Dockside Informational Site."

Re: Chat Site

Hmm, not sure I follow the post, but it was seriously timely, as i just finished daydreaming about iboats adding a live chat to the top of the forum display page, so members could chat while reading/posting. Then I recalled I was supposed to write an open source live chat months ago and never did :( Then I.. well let's not delve too far into Lowkee's brain, shall we? ;)

Re: Chat Site

my thought is most people come iboats the first time, looking for information, and solutions to there boating problems. there is alot more than just dockside. no changes to the format planned.

Re: Chat Site

Hello oops,
The internet has come a long way since its birth with all the technology and knowledge that can be obtained at the click of a mouse as we all know.

Was not expecting any change to any particular forum but, how as individuals we perceive websites, some consider them informational. In today's world it's known as blogging. I'm still trying to fathom the generation X and generation Y as compared to the boomer generation on the internet.

Great idea, live chat.

My introduction to iboats was for INFORMATION on a motor problem. As I seeked information I began to CHAT with knowledgeable people because I know very little about outboards, today I am BLOGGING to individuals.

I was using the heading of dockside chat as a pun

Re: Chat Site

I'm on another website for trucks that has the chat feature on it...the format for the site is the same as this one I believe, so I wouldn't imagine it be that difficult. its just a bar you click on next to quick links and log out in the toolbar.
