Can u put a charging system on a 1981 25 hp johnson. The motor i have , someone has put an electrical starter on it and i wonder if there is a way i can put some kind of cgarging unit on it.
Yup, you just need the coil (goes under flywheel) and rectifier, and to make things a little cleaner you can get the plastic strip that the wires connect to.
There is a battery charging kit part number 0173358 which includes a different stator coil assembly, rectifier and all the minor parts and cabling . But its over $200
I am rather puzzled though by the parts shown in the main parts list for the engine. It seems to show two different stator coil assemblies without differentiating between them ( both shown as #26 in This diagram ) Maybe the inset one can be used without having to repace the actual ignition components
