Rectifier on my 112spl burned out. I installed a new one, but my voltage slowly climbs to 16+. Tested at batter and at rectifier. Any tips on what else to check/test.

Connections are clean and tight

Thanks in advance

I should not do that if it has a water cooled rectifier regulator but if you have just the simple 3 wire round rectifier then the volts are not regulated and will rise to that sort of figure.

According to the parts list the rectifier regulator ( Pt No 0585195 ) is fitted to 25" ( extra long shaft) models whereas the simple rectifier ( 0583408) is fitted to 20" ( long shaft) models .

Your model number indicates indicates that you have a 20" long shaft model although I cannot match the whole number exactly

Thanks for responding. Yes it has a circular rectifier with 2 yellow and a red wire.

So I shouldn't be concerned. TO be honest I never paid attention to voltage prior to the tach going crazy and replacing the rectifier. 15-16 volts won't burn the battery up?

Its not ideal but its quite normal. Best to use an ordinary flooded cell battery, better still perhaps if its an old fashioned type that can be topped up. Also more of a problem if you run for many hours at a time.

Avoid gel type batteries.

Just noticed that the 25" models have a higher output stator coil than the 20" models. That's why they fit the regulated type of rectifier assembly

It's normal..........on that system.

Millions of them running around at that voltage just fine. And half a million owners worrying about it. The other half don't know about it.
Don't worry, mine does it too. It's normal
