it does not mean the stator is ok..you also should not switch/disconnect battery with motor running ..it can damage your electronics.

You can expect your R/R to be bad for sure after running open circuited.

Well it was open for only about 30 seconds. Come to think of it the rig is 26 years old. I suspect the 10 hours I've run it after 6 years of sitting did both the R/R and stator in. Anyhow I'll post the test results when my testing gadgets come in.

Ok I built my own DVA for my multi-meter and after testing the stator it pulsed at anywhere between 115V to 174V but fires up mostly in the 150 to 165V range. I assume that's not all that bad. I have the epoxy for the magnets on order, and expect those erratic numbers to stabilize when the magnets aren't riding up and down. Still I'm gonna wait till I get the magnets in before I order a rectifier and plan to give the stator a GOOD inspection when I get that flywheel off. Sorry for the late reply, life got in the way :).

Still jammed with work and stuff, probably gonna get it done sometime in the next two weeks.....money first....the boat needs money..LOL

how did you build your OWN DVA? Do you have the schemantics?
