changing the serpint belt on a 8.1 GI-J volvo having trouble getting the new belt on

I am changing the serpintine belt on my volvo motor and I am having trouble getting it over the pullies , I am sure there is a trick I just do not know it and I am fearfull to use a pry bar to force it. please help. Gregg
