I have an old houseoat that has a 318 chyrsler with a dana outdrive.
When I bought the boat it was getting water in the oil. Cracked block must have froze.
I have recently gotten my hand on a volvo penta 280 out drive attached to a 305.
What do you think of putting the VP in the houseboat.
I have the complete wiring harness all the way to and including the dash.
Do anyone know of any books out there explaining what would have to be done?

Re: Changing power

Still not decided if I should change or not.
I've had the boat for 3 years, just use it at the dock. Last year someone hooked the rubber boot with a fishing lure and ripped a hole in it. When I went down for a weekend there was oil in the water and when the waves hit the back of the boat water would get over in the boot. I fixed the hole with a inner tube patch kit. But now I kind of worried how long the outdrive will last.
I'm sure I can get a cut out template for the volvo 280 from a volvo dealer. Does anyone know where I can get a template for the dana?
