Changing Oil Filter on Honda BF15D

The first time I tried to change the filter on my BF15D, I couldn't get a wrench on it so left the old one on. This time, I've got a better wrench, but I can't seem to get the filter out without first taking off the carburetor. Can this be right? And if it's right, how do I get the carb off? I can see three bolt heads, of which two are accessible - that's not enough. Did Honda sub-contract the engineering on this one?

I've got a Clymer for Honda, but it doesn't cover the 15D.

Thanks in advance.

You do not need to pull the carb. You need to first remove the large silver plastic cowling (4 or 5 screws) that butts up against the oil filter. When putting the cowling back on, just make sure you didnt pinch the water hose for the tell tale.
