Changing lower unit

I have a 2006 25 horse merc with a prop and I was wondering how difficult it would be to change the lower unit to a pump. The rivers in my immediate area have very shallow areas that my prop can not run through. I was told if I bought a pump lower unit I could change them at will? Is that possible?

Maybe I misunderstood that if you "ask the experts" on the forum you would at least, get a response?

Sorry why do you need a lower unit pump and what's it for ?? If the river is shallow at parts why don't you just avoid those areas or just tilt the motor up ? Just asking to get a better idea on what you're trying to achieve !
