Hi, probably a dumb question: Can the impeller on the Volvo Penta 5.0GL be changed while the boat is in the water? It lives in a boathouse without a lift. If I plug up the hoses, can I do it while it's in the water?

I would plan on removing the intake hose and raising the end and securing it while you work. The pump is below the water level.

Yes, you will get water in the bilge. Have a 1-1/4" plug available and extra hose clamps

Here is a set of plugs that are a good idea to have in your onboard tool kit link. Many different kits/sizes are available.
