changing gimbal braring

Hi guys new to forum,Ive got a89 kayot deck boat with 4.3 v6 engine with omc cobra out drive. Ive been reading here about a week,very informative bunch here.What do you have to remove to change gimbal bearing besides the outdrive.Ive got that off to change coupling so may as change this while everything is torn down.Thanks Len.

Ayuh,.. Welcome Aboard Len,....

That bearing is a resistence fit, pulled right out through the bellows,...
Either a mechanical puller, or a slidehammer will do the job...

It goes back in the same way,+ is aligned with the same tool as used on Merc.s...

You need to pull the engine to change the coupler, gimbal just pulls out and driven in.

Thanks guys, I checked gimbal today ,it was well greased and no water in bellows,and feels good,no roughness or catches so Im going let it ride. Thanks again for the info.
