i am repairing and remodeling a 85 glassmaster 21` I went to remove the tank and discovered it had a 75 gal alluminium tank. Was Looking for some info on where to buy a 30 gal tank or if i should take this one to a shop and have a welder cut in half.

Are you looking to get more inside space by removing? If so I would just get a new tank...cheaper than having someone cut and weld.

Rob, You should determine a good out-of-the way place for the gas tank. Now determine what size tank will fit in that space and proceed to find a standard plastic tank fo the correct size. A 21' boat can get away with 30 gal, if that is how much space is available and makes sense. It is a bit more convenient to have more fuel, but not vital.

Why get rid of the 75 gallon tank? A 30 gallon fuel tank is pretty small for a boat that size. You?re in effect cutting the cruise range by 1/2
