Re: changing from I/O to a jetdrive
Do you have the skills to rework drivetrains and do fiberglass work? You might be money and time ahead to sell the boat and get a jet boat. I am the last one to discourage doing a project, but I think this one, unless you can find an absolute kickin' deal on a jet drivetrain, would cost you thousands to pull off. You will need to modify the transom for the jetdrive (the jetdrive comes out lower than the outdrive of an I/O), you will need to modify the bottom for the intake, rebuild engine mounts, etc. None of it is impossible, just expensive.
