changing a windshield

1976 searay with a curved plexi glass windshield. This winshield is very flexible. I work at a glass plant where I could get tempered clear glass to replace it. my questions are; Is this procedure even legal( I can't imagine why not)and also is the weight any factor? could this be to much for the frame?

It's perfectly legal- lots of boats have tempered glass windshields. I think your boat has a plexi windshield because back in the 70's the cost of curving glass was way up there. The additional weight shouldn't be a huge issue unless you already have the boat maxed out.<br /><br />I'd say go for it!
