I have this beautiful 17 foot Duratech Orion, but she has a few serious control problems.
Instead of cutting through a wave like most deep Vs do,it slides off sideways specially when she is on plane.Every time she hits a wake wave I have to slow down to a crawl in order to keep going where I want to go.When we are in 1 to 2 foot waves she needs a whole lot of corrective steering and when anchored on one anchor even the slightest bit of wind will make her go back and forth in half circles.
At one point in her life, there was a very narrow and not very deep V like strip all along the bottom, about 4 inches wide and 2 inches deep.Time and the rollers on the trailer she was on caused this strip to invert and now it is inward on the bottom instead of extending down.
Is there any way to build an extension length wise along the bottom to give it a bit more stability in the waves?
Please enlighten me,because I love this boat but she causes me pain.

i think you best inspect that boat very well, that boat keel has gone to a depression, i would expect rot, under it. a lot of boats swing on single anchor, especially if wind is one way and tide or current the other.

Grew up with flat bottom skiffs, went sideways more than I went straight. Check out the wood boat forums a wedged keel may solve your problem.
