Re: changed impellor and no water

This seems to be a popular subject lately. I had the same problem not long ago with my '77 75hp.

Make sure ALL the impeller vanes are going the correct way. The shaft should be turned clockwise and you slide the housing over the impeller. When I did mine, I got the impeller in the housing then slid it the housing down on the key. Had to get my face really close to make sure it was going on the key properly.

Obviously, make sure that the plumbing from the LU mates with the intake pipe in the leg, too.

Motors run on muffs will sometimes take longer to pump the water like it would if on the water. The Lu will set deeper when on the water and will prime the pump better. The stats being closed will also slow the water flow till they open. If any of the old impeller was missing, the missing parts can plug the water jackets and pee hole also. Use weed eater string and run it up the pee hole to clear any plugs in it.
