Changed Gear Oil, Does this look right?

I took the vent screw off first, and it kinda shot off like there was lots of pressure and then when the oil came out, i just thought it looked odd. Photo 1 is the old lube coming out, photo 2 is the new lube

The old lube looks like different lube maybe merc premium lube while is yellow brown vs the blue green of the high performance lube?

That could be, i guess the color is not my conern, just how it looked bubbly, it also smelt strong, like burnt, which i guess makese sense

My used gear lube often smells funky. As long as the gear lube isn't milky-looking, I wouldn't worry too much.

Based on the aeration of the old lube I am assuming that you ran the boat just prior to changing the lube.That would be normal.I always remove the lower fill plug 1st and slowly remove the vent plug shortly after paying special attention to what immediately comes out of the lower fill plug.Water will come out first if any exists and if the boat sat for a few days before the change. Yes sir it was, i was warming up the oil for the oil change, part of winterization, so i guess it was all normal after all
