change motor

What would it take to go from a remote 35hp merc to a remote 25hp johnson ? I don't know if the steering cables would be the same or not . The control box may need changed , or not ???? I have a 16 ft Tracker that i am thinking of doing this on .

merc and johnson don't mix. you will have to go with the johnson controls, and change the steering link at the motor end of the steering cable.
