Centre of gravity.

I am thinking about taking a 19 foot Renken fishing boat, ripping the Inboard/outboard system out,replace or reinforce the transom and hang an outboard on the boat.This mostly because I really dislike the idea of an inboard/outboard system in salt water.
My first concern would be what will happen to the center of gravity in the boat.
Is the bow going to go very low?? Or will everything just roughly stay the same.

What kind of engine is coupled to the I/O? What kind of outboard do you want to use?

I wouldn't worry about the bow going low because you will be shifting weight farther aft, which would raise the bow. The center of gravity for the I/O is inside the boat, for the outboard it's outside. You could adjust the trim with a larger gas tank or a heavier anchor forward.

Rol, The outboard weighs 1/3 of the I/O or less. The boat will float more level than before and come on plane faster. The difference in weight will not have any greater effect that this.
