CDI is arching to frame , what is the cause and what is the solution

The arch is coming from the lower bolt which attaches the CDI to the frame and also makes a terrible sparking sound .

Possibly a bad ground ? Cracked plastic ?

The engine is a 94 15HP .

Starts, idles, runs .

seems like low insulation ...aside from changing parts and checking your installation you could try some of the special silicone used to repair old style flyback transformers in tube tv's (although most are gone to join DODO birds)

Electronic shops should have the stuff...or amazon

Thanks, fixed it. It was a bad ground causing the arcing.

I removed the CDI , wire brushed the block, the grounding washer & copper wire lead.

Cleaned with brake cleaner, applied dielectric grease, and tightened the bolt properly. Problem solved.
