Causes for concern?

We just bought a 2000 Four Winns Horizon 190. We are planning on taking it out for the first time this weekend. I was in the garage checking underneath the boat and noticed potential (?) issues.

As a first time boat owner are these things that need fixed before getting in the water or just sooner rather than later ?

Thank you !

The hole below the transom plug could possibly indicate a rotten transom.

The cracked bellows needs to be repaired.....NOW. The boat would likely sink. Fix it before you launch it.

That would be the exhaust bellows?...

Other hole doesn't look good...

It appears to be another eager buyer of a " pandemic special "-----Hurry to a boat shop for a complete inspection

chips in transoms happen. however do a test drill go from there. if all good, mix up some thickened gel and repair

the bellows indicate zero maintenance done. so since you just bought a boat. you need to do all the maintenance that the prior owner didnt do before you use the boat

that is pulling the drive and doing a complete service including alignment
engine oil, oil filter, fuel filter, etc.
trailer bearings, brakes, coupler service, etc.

Agree with all the above, if the exhaust bellow is that bad the rest are not far behind.

This looks more like a 22-year-old fiberglass boat than it does one that was neglected. The bellows, however, must be addressed before you can use it.

That chip under the drain plug could be from the boat hitting something - rock pile maybe?? Gelcoat repair kit probably fixes that BUT I'd be crawling underneath to make sure there aren't any other issues.

Bellows is a MUST replace....unless you planned on buying a submarine.

I can't tell from the picture but if it is the exhaust bellows does it have to be replaced? I'm not familiar with these "newer" drives.

Chip in the gelcoat . . . best to fix before getting the boat wet. gelcoat repair kit will do the trick 2/10 scale for dificulty.

Is that the exhaust bellows we are looking at? If so how does the drive shaft bellows look and possibly the shift cable bellows, if there is one?

Bad exhaust bellows won't sink it but if that one is bad you'd better check the drive bellow above it because that one WILL sink ya.
Yeah. Mine (1986/88 OMC Cobra) was torn through when I bought it. Don't have one at all now, just a flapper. Replaced the driveshaft bellows the next season, and it was still holding. That issue makes an outboard look kinda good though.
