My 33 aft cabin has a 6.5cz Kohler generator that will only run as long has I hold the start switch. anybody had this problem? I've been told it could be a stater, a rotor, a control board or a governor spring? Any clues?
This is a sign of no AC voltage output. It can be caused by anything from a blown fuse to a circuit board or voltage regulator. It is not a starter issue.
Sorry for the delay in responding.
Took a month to get through.
Had the same problem with a 96 32 AFt Cabin. Kohler 6.5CZ.
Certainly appeared to be an electrical problem and headed in the same direction as the first responder.
Bought the repair manual.
Followed all the trouble shooting lights. Got no where.
Had it evaluated by two marine mechanics. No Go!
Finally got a Kohler guy to look at it. DIRTY CARB. No way! Problem solved!
