Carpeting/Flooring question

I recently purchased a mid 80's Fish n Ski boat (boat make is Alliance, never heard of them before, but it seems like a solid boat). The carpeting in it is shot. When I started taking the carpeting up, I noticed that the fiberglass under the boat is in really good shape (thankfully). I want to use this primarily for fishing, so having a carpeted deck (especially in the saltwater by me) is not advantageous. Is it possible to just paint the fiberglass and not replace the carpet? I am thinking for ease of cleanup this would be best....If it is possible, what kind of paint would your reccomend? Thanks in advance!

Parrot,

Sure you can. Just be mindful, that it can get very slippery without some type of abrasive added into the paint.

Go to the West Marine site. They have a very good paint selection and descriptions of how to use certain products.

www.westmarine.com

I bought some Evercoat No-Skid, which is a rubberized material with chunks in it for traction, meant for bot floors or whatever else you want to use it on. I paid $45 for a gallon of it.

There's a DIY bedliner product called "Durabak" that would probably work well. It can be rolled on, and it stays flexible. Also, it has small chunks of rubber in it for traction. I did the interior of a Jeep with it and I couldnt be happier. I got it at "www.4wd.com" and do a search for Durabak. It comes in black or gray, and in quart or gallon containers.
