Installing carpet on boat floor, what kind of glue do you suggest? It is fiberglass floor, boat is used in salt water, carpet is indoor/ outdoor type.

Also installing seats, one aluminum pedestal swivel arm chair and one sleeper seat, problem is floor boards are not removable and only one inch above hull (maybe less on sides) , do i just screw them into the fiberglass covered plywood floor boards or use some type of anchoring system?

The swivel seat has a large base and backing plate but i will be unable to get the backing plate into place without cutting out my perfectly good floor. I do not want to do that. Suggestions?

Thanks in advance for your responses

I've never used them but BoatUS sells "Toggler Stainless Steel toggle bolt anchors" (item#122101)specifically for mounting pedestal bases where you don't have access under the deck. They come 6 per pack for $21.99 and are made by Garelick.
West Marine also has this option for you:

http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wc...0001&langId=-1&catalogId=10001&productId=8251

i think i would use contact cement next time! i used indoor/outdoor carpet adhesive and it didnt dry to fast (like 3 days later) and seems to stay fairly soft also. as far as the seats, i think i would pre-drill holes and put some marine goop in the holes and on the screws then screw them down.

I used 3M super 77 spray adhesive for everything. The stuff is great and adhears and dries very quickly.

I screwed my bases down but I have a really thick deck so it wasn't an issue. If I thought they could come lose I would have put some 3M 5200 in the holes and then screwed as suggested

i used super77 spray on one of my boats, it is a bit expensive and doesnt hold that well, i did this a year ago and it comes loose here and there. the contact cement in a 1 gallon can is the same thing, cheaper, and will cover better.
but if you put the carpet down, that better be where you want it! cause it aint coming back up in one piece.

I used indoor/outdoor carpet glue. No complaints. Seems the industry has switched from a contact glue base to a latex base. As the origional carpet I used stainless steel staples as well around the hatch to the hold and on the hatch.
