I have a 1987 45hp mariner with WMA 6 carbs on it. I just finished cleaning them put new gaskets and when i pump the primer ball or run the motor, gas comes out of the economizer jet, could this be a float adjustment problem or more?

prob float you should check them on the bench with a gas can and a primer ball this way you can see if they leak good luck

Re: Carburetor leak

If the floats are made of foam they dont behave well with the ethanol in the gas sometimes causing them to expand or become saturated with gas. Which means they may not float sometimes or theyl get stuck and not allow the needle to close in the seat allowing gas to constantly fill the bowl and spill out. If they are plastic floats, their height just needs adjusting (assuming they are plastic and they float). It happened to me recently so I just got a set of plastic floats to swap mine out.

You hace a float or needle problem and later I have seen several floats that where bad where they were sonic welded at factory.

Re: Carburetor leak

Well i got the leak fixed, it was the float, and as before i started, i'm only getting about 4000 rpm WOT with just muffs on and the prop not engaged. I started this project cause the motor will not plane out the boat and its a 15ft Bumble Bee so should be plenty of motor, and i've already changed the prop now i need to find out what the problem is. i read in here that maybe a trigger or trigger wire? Any input
