I have a 1981 merc 115 with 3 carbs. I just replaced the top gears for the starter today and put it in the water. I noticed fuel leakage from side of the 3rd lower carb and the face of itis leaking too. This is the only one acting up. When i give it gas it boggs down and shuts off. can anyone help? Thanks

Re: carbs

Most likely your float needle valve is stuck open. Likely cause is a piece of trash or varnish deposit. Take carb apart and clean out. Good luck

Bob

Deep Creep may be of some help as well. Do a "search" with the red button above.

Re: carbs

most likely trash in the float.
it happend to mine several times since we switched over to gas with ethanol in it.
the ethanol dislodges deposits and clogs up things.
i would clean the carbs and add a better fuel filter b4 the carbs.

Re: carbs

After you clean the carbs, try some Stabil in the gas. Keeps the gas fresh over time if you don't cruise a lot and also keeps the carbs clean. Worth the few $$ it costs per tank.

Jerry
