:) Since this week end with a lot of snow, there has been a dozen cases of carbon monoxide poisoning with snow blocking vents and unfortunately their has been 4 deaths!!!!

Make sure you check your furnace vents that protrude, from your house and also make sure that your vechicle exhaust are clear!!!

The new furnaces that are on the market today, throw out cold air, not hot air lke the old ones!!!
Check your furnace and if you have plastic pipe coming out of the furnace you are more then likely exhausting cold air and the snow will not melt!!!

Last note: You can buy a carbon detector for about $30.00 Cheap money for saving a life!!! ;)

It is also very important to dig out the snow around your gas meter if you are on natural gas. There is also a vent on the meter that needs to be clear.

For the ice fishermen out there a detector in the bob-house is a good idea as well. We always lose a couple fishermen up here from it.

Treatment, high dose of oxygen.
Got to have a detector if u uses any fuel source other than electric.

Re: Carbon Monoxide

For u propane or natural/liquid gas users, especially "vent less", make sure your appliance burns blue, no yellow, the yellow is carbon, and indicate the carbon monoxide is being produced.
