My carbs are in need of a rebuild on my 1988 Mariner 150 serial # OB279500. How involved difficult of a job is this, and where do I start to look for the rebuild kits? I am mechanically inclined and could handle the rebuild, but I am a little nervous about setting them back up and tuning them if need be. Would the settings have to be readjusted? Anything tips or info would be appreciated. Also have noticed that the carbs and immediate area around carbs are pretty well saturated with fuel/oil as well as dirt. Is this normal? There is no known fuel line thats blown, but my fear is that some lines maybe dry rotted and will need to be replaced. Dont even know where to start:facepalm: Thanks Mike

I sent you the parts list for your engine the other day. Did you have a problem with it? You will see the carb kits under Carburetor.

I rebuilt the carbs on my '93 Merc 150HPV6. It was not difficult. Some of the V6 Mercs do not have idle mixture adjustment, however, my motor has six of them. It took a bit of time to get them adjusted properly. Too lean and the motor will not accelerate above idle. Too rich and she idles poorly. Actually it was easier to adjust than the three idle mixtures on my Merc 1500 Inline 6, for some reason. That motor was finicky.

Take plenty of pictures of EVERYTHING before starting.
