Hi Guys,
Last year i was having a few issues with my 93' 90HP evinrude when trying to get my holeshot in WOT. It would rev up, then die, then rev, then die, then finally i would hit my hole shot.. pretty crappy.. so this spring I decided to rebuild my carbs...
So yesterday I got the chance to finally do my rebuild.. So I took off my 2 carbs on my 93' 90HP evinrude... Extreemly simple! Went to my BRP/Evinrude dealer and got the OEM kits, very small kit, no idle needles no thing.. just gaskets..
I opened my first carb (bottom), and found that 1 of the 2 freeze plugs popped out, and i assume was just dumping raw fuel into the carb body.. explains the hard starts, rough idle, and the really bad holeshot.. So.. got the dealer OEM kit.. took all the old gaskets off took off hte float and needle and seat.. got some good compressed air, and cleaned her all good. Installed the new seat, needle and float.. looked at it.. float was level with the carb body.. put the new gaskets on, and firmly tightend the screws..
Second carb (TOP).. opend it up, took all the old parts off.. and found the 2 mains were slightly gummed.. cleand with air, and new gaskets..
So.. HERE is the problem.. Put the carbs back on.. insatlled the VRO and air Muffler.. buttoned it all up.. went to prime the carbs.. and *sniff sniff*.. What the hell.. Fuel just leaking from every gasket!! WTH!! BUT nothing from inside the carb! So the float and needle are working..
So.. now i'm pissed.. i take everything apart.. in the dark i might add.. look at both carbs.. all the screws are tight as can be.. fuels lines have all new tiewrap clamps on them.. So i re-install them.. prime them.. and now its only a drip.. but they are still leaking!! WTH!?
Do these gaskets need time to "set" or are they crap of OEM parts? Like I said.. they are very very simple to rebuild.. i've done more complicated ones on my MERC inline 6.. and they never leaked like this
Any suggestions?
Cheers Fellows!
