96 5.7 Mercruiser LX (4 brl Edelbrock Performer Series carburetor????) Carb leaks fuel when idling (visible stream). Other than running rich at idle the carb performs well. Is this a viable carb design worth rebuilding? Am wasting my time with a rebuild kit, or should I just replace the thing and be done with it?

It would hard to belive that it wouldn't be rebuildably Just wake sure it's the marine carb and not a automotive carb

Re: Carb Question for the repair gurus

It's the factory original so it's defiantly marine.

Re: Carb Question for the repair gurus

Limited, My Rochester 4bbl drips fuel out of the primary venturi when it is dirty. I can usually use some "Jet-spray" carb cleaner and blast the (pinhole-sized) vent holes in the venturi, to clean 'em out. This stops the dripping. If it is real bad, you need to pull and clean the carb. I am not sure that was the problem you described, but FWIW.
