Was working on fixing leaking fuel line on my engine and had to remove a carb. to access the fuel line. When I put the carb. back on and and was reattaching the link and pin rod assembly that links that carbs together the assembly just kind of floats in the plastic retainer links. I did a test of the linkage by moving the throttle forward and when i went all the way forward the rod assembly would pop off one or two of the carbs. I tried to adjust the linkage to prevent this from happening but did not have any luck. This of course is in the start mode of throttle movement. Is this normal? How do I adjust this correctly?

You probably bent that rod that connects the carbs together. Make sure it's straight and that the rod goes all the way into the linkages on each carb. You may have to bend it to get it straight.
