I have a 305 V8 mercrusier in a 1989 Maxum. I had bought a new carb about a month ago and the engine was doing great. Then the gas tank got some water in it and it funked up the carb. I started trouble shooting it and found the needle valve had gotten stuck. I went to pull it out and the tip of it broke. So, I got a new seat/needle valve and reinstalled....now it won't stop flooding. The float is not stopping any of the fuel and I can't figure out why. The parts seem so simple but I have no idea why it's not working. The last thing I can think to try is to bend the float metal down more so when it goes up it puts more pressure on the needle. Any ideas?
