Carb Float Gauge

I just rebuilt my carb but didn't have a float gauge. Do I need one? With the carb upside down the new float was parallel with the gasket surface.

Assuming it is good enough. But what are you working on?

On many of the Johnson and Evinrude carbs, using the factory float guage the end of the float opposite the pivot point will be about 1/32" to 1/16" above level when held upside down.

Don't forget to set your float drop.
