Carb adjustment

Can someone help me out with a step by step carb adjustment for a 97 merc 5.7 lx

Set the timing to spec. Then adjust the mixture screw(s) until you have a smooth idle. Adjust the idle speed screw until you have the right idle speed. Recheck the mixture screws. Run the engine under load. If it hesitated slightly on acceleration, richen the mixtures screws about 1/8 turn.

Is richen a ccw turn?
Also I feel like the carb makes a sucking sound not steady but kind of loud .....any idea?

Richen is CCW, yes.
