Car tires on my boat trailer?

I have a 1979 Thunderbird tri-hull with a 470 and it needs some tires.
It is a two axle roadrunner trailer with 195-75-14 tires.
I can save about 200 bucks if I put regular car tires on it and am wondering if thats a smart option or not.

The trailer plate says 5000 GVWR if that helps.

Thanks guys.

youll want to run trailer tires they hold more air at cold temp and they hold up better than passanger tires with the weight. Youll just burn thru tires and risk a blow out quicker.

trailer sidewalls are built differently also, from what i understand. They are made to give and absorb some of the shock from the road, and not transmit it to the hull.

i thnk this sums it up best... trailer tires have warnings not to use them on vehicles, but car tires have no such warning about using on a trailer.

What is a trailer?? That is a vehicle. I see where youre going though. Yes a st tire has trailer use only on them. A st tire psi rec start out usually around 50 psi to 80 psi where a car psi is only 35-44 psi for most. A st tire hold more weight and the sidewall is stiffer due to holding more weight. A st tire is the only way to go.

Although I just looked up that size and a 195/75r14 doesnt have many options. If you could go to a st205/75r14 at our shop youde be the same price as a p205/75r14. Hope all this helps.
