I was thinking of having my 37'5 foot ketch rig Endeavor shrink rapped. They gave me a price of $600.00 Any body know what the price would be to have a canvas cover made. I think it would breath better and be a lot cheaper in the long run.

Re: Canvas vs shrink rap

I had a full canvas cover made by a mobile covers guy for my 20ft x 8ft beam cuddy cabin. He did it in two hours in my driveway. 600 South Pacific Pesos (Australian dollars) with straps included. Let's say you have four times the deck area = approx 2400. Turn into USD gives you about $2K. Add 500 extra for mast holes etc. Obviously this is only a very rough guide but you should be able to find a few local cover specialists who can quote. Here in eastern Australia most people avoid shrink wrapping except for trucking yachts overland as it creates mould problems in our humid atmosphere.

I assume you mean a winter cover?
Here on the east coast we have Fisher Canvas, who specializes in custom winter covers for boats. They only use treated canvas for their covers. With proper care they can last more than 20 years. http://www.fishercanvas.com/
They quoted me $1600 a couple years ago (at the Atlantic City Boat Show) for my 34 Silverton. As it turned out, I got lucky and found a good used one that fit my boat on CL for 400 bucks. It's date-stamped '1989' and still works fine! :D

Here's a couple pictures:
