Can't turn over old Evinrude 2 HP

I recently "un-froze" an old 1947 Evinrude 2HP by letting it digest some WD-40 in the cylinder head. I can now turn the prop back and forth and and the piston is moving in and out. but, It won't yet go "over the top" to make a full 360' turn of the prop. Short of a tear town, what should i do next. Thanks.

If you hope to ever to get it to run right. You are going to have to take it apart. When you say it won't make a full turn, does it feel, or sound like something is hitting?

No hitting sound, it just gets tight and I don't want to force it. I'm looking for a service manual now. I was hopeing to get lucky and have it start with out takeing it apart. This motor looks almost new. thanks, Roscoe

If it was "froze', why? You have to address that problem eventually.<br />Piston rings are, generally, made from cast iron which turns to instant rust when water gets to it. Pistons are usually aluminum which, when combined with wet piston rings generate a corrosion that isn't going to go away without a fight. <br />If the piston and rod assembly have to be removed from the top you'll have to remove the head and sandpaper the crud away to allow the piston to come out of the hole. <br />Tearing this thing down seems the sensable way to go.
