Cant throttle. In reverse sometimes

Hello again. I have a 1977 merc 115hp took out to lake today and ran into two problems. First I could use reverse usually but when pulled up to load boat on trailer when I put it in reverse I couldnt give it throttle? It would go into reverse but I couldnt move it back to give it throttle. I also had to pump primer bulb several times and keep it squeezed to get motor to start once up and running went just fine except at idle and I would have to reach back and hold bulb while restarting maybe low idle?. It seemed to have issue when trying to load or pull up to dock'switching from fwd to reverse would die on me but ran great across lake any help would be great! Thanks

Sounds like two issues. Sounds like weak fuel pump or small air leak in fuel line. You might inspect fuelline fittings and/or rebuild fuel pump.

Second issue sounds like broken MerControl or bad shift cable. With the motor off, put throttle into reverse and see if you can get carbs to open by advancing throttle in reverse. If not, you have problem like I described.
