Sounds good Jim. See if you can get it into reverse with the shifter cable removed, if you cant then you will need to remove the LU to adjust the shift rod

Hey Bosun, good to hear from you. Since I posted this, I raised the engine about 1 1/2 inches or there abouts. The motor doesn't sling water over the top now, as I put a diverter there to direct the water away from the motor cowl . I took the throttle cable out of the control box and hooked up my hotfoot. I also turned the coupling on top of the shifter rod down one full turn and it bottomed out so maybe that is adjusted right now. It does go into gear without too much travel on the cable now, I just haven't been to the lake to see how it works in reality.

I lucked out and was able to adjust the shifter rod coupling without dropping the foot, I had to make a device where I could turn the coupling without taking the carbs off but it worked by pushing the rod down into reverse, it cleared the engine block so it worked.

I guess we will see if that took care of it or not when we take it to the river.

Hi Jim, yes its spring time here so am busy with stock and girlfriends that live away in the big smoke. Went to a stock yards sale the other day and beef calves were going for $15, so about $10US. We are hearing El Ninos going to make it a drought here but thats ridiculously cheap.
Take a photo if you can of the back of your boat with the engine down. Make it level at the height of the top of the LU and we can then see how its positioned

Hey Bosun, the 23rd was the first day of Fall here, it has already started cooling off. I sure hope they are wrong about being a drought down your way. Man, at that price you should buy several, if there is a drought just kill and dress them out for the freezer, no way can we buy one here anywhere close to that.

I will try to get a picture tomorrow, I hope, they are predicting rain for tomorrow. I usually just leave the motor in the down position, there is no way it will hit the ground as high as it is.

I have been sitting here making up some noodles for jug fishing, we hope to get some eaters soon. We don't care to catch the big catfish any more we just fish for the smaller ones. In the past it wasn't uncommon to hang a 75 or 80 pounder. We always released the big fish.

Hey Bosun, I forgot to post the pictures of the position of the motor, does this look about right?

Its hard to tell Jim, ive never had a boat with pontoons, hopefully someone else will know. On my normal hulled boat the anti cavitation plate needs to be level with the base of the hull, ive no idea where that equivalent point would be on a pontoon.
Looks like a big boat you got there, especially big for that car behind it, if thats what you tow it with

I'm sorry I thought you knew it was a 24 foot pontoon. No it is a regular shaft motor. Right now the cavation plate is just a hair below the bottom of the deal the motor is mounted on. Oh no, that is not what I pull it with, I have a little 1990 Toyota 4X4 truck 6 banger that we pull it with, no problems at all.

Man I hope you load up on the calves, that is a deal you just can't walk away from. Let me know how many you come home with.

Regular normally means short, well it does here. You can measure the length of the leg, ive forgotten from where or if its the original leg then the motor code will have a S or L on it. That motor code plate is normally stamped up near the bracket where the motor sits on the hull.
You probably did say it was a pontoon, i had one of those toyota 4x4 for my farm vehicle, your right they do tow excellent, mine pulled out my tractor a few times while having no water and third hand oil. I think its called a tacoma or a four runner there in the US its a hilux surf here

Bosun, the motor is a 1975 85ESL75E, what ever that means.

I like your Toyota, that is exactly what I want, up here that is a 4 Runner. The Toyota I have is a 4X4 SR5 truck. This isn't mine but it is exactly like it same color and all.

That is a pretty place you live in.
