Purchased a sierra ignition switch, worked great. Then I could not shut motor off. Bought another Sierra switch and still can't shut off motor with the key.
On that motor the white wire on switchbox (4 terminal side) carries +12v when motor is running, to stop it the switch cuts off the power 0v so the switch must be wired wrong but don't ground it.
I am thinking something with the white wire. The problem arose after a week being installed and maybe 100 starts and shutdowns. I wiggled all the wires on the motor, still no shutdown.
It sounds like the white wire is shorted to the red wire. Since they're side by side on the switch box that may be a good place to start looking. If everything looks OK try removing the white wire from the switch box and see if it still runs. If it does the box is bad.
