Cant Identify serial number

Hi, my first thread.
I have a 40 HP 2 stroke 4 cyl 1998 Mercury Classic outboard.
I found a metal plate on the transom bracket but its barely readable:
A755822

I need to get a service manual for it but I need to make sure I have the right serial number.

I tried uploading pictures but got a failed message.

That s/n comes up as:

MERCURY - ( 40 H.P. (1990 ))
Serial No: 0A755822 Model No: 1040312JC
