Cant get powerhead to seal!! please help

hey so i swaped my powerhead the other day and i cant get the new one to seal i replaced the gasket and cleand bouth the exhaust plate, and the botom of the powerhead really well. its leaking a little in the front (twords the bow of the boat) by the drive shaft. i tlked to 2 people 1 said i should use rtv the other said i shouldnt so i decided not to use it tomorrow im going to try to get it to seal with the rtv.

any other suggestions or oppinions on the hole rtv debat.

also i noticed in the area of the leak the metal on the powerhead its self is really coroded my local mechanic had mentioned aproduc that u can use to build up the metal than sand it back down to even. kida like bondo any one know the name of this product if i have to go that rought

also do i need to let this stand for a while befor starting or should it be good to go?

Marine Tex or JB Weld. Follow directions on containers. It's your call with the rtv.

I just use a light film of perma-tex sealer on both sides and never had an issue yet.
