ok i see the intermediate shifter and it is free of the shoe so now i can remove upper housing right? if so ill do that tomorrow after work. i checked the remote control cables. from the shifter to the cutout switch plate works great nice and smooth but i noticed the cable that goes from c.s. plate down to stern drive doesnt move at all. i took it apart and could not get it to move by hand it seems to be seized up so i will be replacing it should i get aftermarket or oem cable?

I am a fan of OEM for critical systems, the cable is one.

ok thanks. is there a thread or sticky for replacing the lower cable that i can use from what i read it looks pretty intense my seloc manual as im sure u know doesnt help much.

I like to get important stuff from my local Mercruiser dealer, costs a little more, but have found they are more then willing to help with advice if you have a problem.

all i can find is mallory or sierra cables where do i go for oem cables.. also i took off the lower cable from the shift plate the controller arm still wont go pass nuetral. shouldnt control be able to move full range forward and reverse without lower cable on? im going out now to take off upper gear housing..thanks

i took upper gear housing off just like u said came right off no problem. what i see is plastic shift guide isnt going far enuff to put the intermediate shoe exactly at 12 oclock position. shift guide is really loose. bellows look good no cracks or dry rot. could set screw on shifter have moved or is this sign lower cable needs replacing or something totally unrelated? also i checked iboats and they only list sierra and mallory cable im guessing this isnt oem so where can i get oem cable. by the way the controller shifter still doesnt go to reverse. thanks

dont know if this is relevant but trim is still in trailer mode. i hooked up new marine battery and tried to get stern down but pump just clicked. guess it was selenoid clicking and i have to fix or replace pump selenoid and possibly pump too. would the trailer mode stop the shifter from going into reverse?

i wanted to thank you all for babysitting me thru this i truely appreciate your time patience and knowledge with your encouragement and guidance i successfully replaced bellows, lower shift cable, shift lever, water pump, shift lever, and updated my old shift lever fittings to newer shift lever seals.....thank you all....
