there's a guy that posted a vid on youtube of a 115 same year model....it may be the same....I can relate to the "quick before I forget how to reassemble."

Re: Cant get lower off to get to impeller???

Finally got it off today......Thanks for all your help!!!!

Had to remove from SB side; the two shift cables and linkages, from Front side; the plastic cover on the carbs, from Port side; the starter and disconnect and move out of the way what I think is a fuel pump. I can't believe this couldn't have been engineered better.

I ordered the parts from iboats today. Hopefully they come quick before I forget how to reassemble:D

Glad you succeeded.....just to clarify/future reference, how did you ultimately release the shift rod from the linkage on that motor?

Try not to let the shift rod rotate while you have the lower unit off or the height will be out when you reassemble......

Did you ever pull the cir clip out on the stbd side and try pushing the linkage to port to disconnect the upper shift rod ??

Using the following diagram:

http://www.marineengine.com/parts/j...urer=Johnson&section=Cylinder+&+Crankcase

Ulimately parts # 69 and #28 needed to be seperated for the shift rod that remains attached to the lower unit to release(unscrewing #26). The only way I could even see it was to remove the starter and loosen the bracket that holds the fuel pump in place. Only then could I wedge a screwdriver that kept the pump up and out of the way so I could access the screw from the front of the motor.

Wish I knew how to add arrows and notes to pictures.
