cant find timming mark

hello heres what happen took v6 vortech out and replaced with a mercrusier v6 took all the electrical off vortech and put on this block changed distributor too brought number one piston up on top compression dropped dist down pointing to number one starts great but no timming mark to be found even moving dist alittle question i have is there a diff in the distributor and electrical

You are the only one that knows that. Since you didn't mention anything other than it being Vortec, things like Year, who marinized it (Merc, Volvo, Other) or what kind of distributor was in it who knows.<br />But I think I kind of understand your question. Not so much are the distributors the same, but what to do for timing marks.<br />Mercruiser used a decal on the vibration dampner since there is only a 0 mark on the dampner and timing cover. Similar to the one in the picture below. Or, just use an adjustable timing light.<br /><br />
