Basically title says it all.

This is the piece that protects the steering cables, fuel lines, etc from wearing as they pass through the gunnels to get to the motor.

I have found several similar ones, but nothing exactly the same, wondering if anyone else has gotten them before.

Re: Can't find this plastic grommit

Also try doing google image searches on things like boat trim rings, bulkhead grommets etc.

When you see a result that looks like it might work, go to the website and see if they have the size you need. I searched on "boat 2" trim ring" and found some results, don't know the exact size you need, but I didn't post a link because it's at an iboats competitor.

Something like:

If you can think it, you can almost always find it with persistence!!;)

Re: Can't find this plastic grommit

Thanks for the advise, I have found tons of fittings that come very close, but somehow i can't seem to find one for a 2.5" hole, you would think that would be a fairly common size but it isn't.

My boat has 6 of them. Sure would be nice to find some new replacements.

Keep us posted.

I searched 2.5 inch flange and found some very interesting muffler flanges in stainless and chrome that you could modify and use very easily and would look sharp

Just a thought unless your stubborn/picky about having starcraft parts

^^Yup, a lot of times you have to think outside the box (or tub, in this case!) on these restorations where some of the the original parts are largely not available. Good sleuth work, cutbait! A good resource.

Re: Can't find this plastic grommit

I know the OG plastic grommet has a protective sleeve that kept the sharp aluminum from chaffing hoses and wires. If you go this route you may need two and sandwich the aluminum between them to protect the wires and hoses?

I have one on my boat and it was in fair condition and I reused it.

After seeing this thread I wish I had used a double light bezel method and "blinged" it up a bit

I think this might have the place (fish tank stores)UNISEAL Flexible Tank Adapters - AquaCave.com. But you can look up "UNISEAL Tank Connector Bulkhead" and should find plenty of choices. Can't remember if I used 1-1/2 " or 2 ". Just check the specs and measure your hole.

tgp thanks for sharing your idea on that grommet. I'm getting close to that dilemma of what to use. I did a search on ebay "uniseal" and came up with 53 listings.
