Re: Cant Find The Year Anywhere

That's a 1987 motor, and a real nice 4cyl motor. Known as a Mercury/Mariner "Classic 45"

Re: Cant Find The Year Anywhere

Your motor would have came from the factory with a 'boat-mounted' oil reservoir for injection purposes. Mercury called it "AutoBlend". They aren't very reliable and most people (including me) removed them anyways.

You'll need to premix your fuel 50:1 with a good quality TCW3 rated oil for 2-stroke outboard motors.

Re: Cant Find The Year Anywhere

I purchase my parts through my local Marina (Merc dealer), but if you're handy you can likely pick up some bulk solid core wire at your local automotive place cheaper and re-build your own wires.

All your local Merc dealer needs is your serial number, and they can get you any part you need. Most parts are still readily available for that motor.

To be fair to iboats, you can probably buy them here online as well. I'll have a peek and see if I see it.

iboats does sell them (Sierra aftermarket), but they don't have stock anyways.

Merc p/n 813715A5 CABLE SET-IGN should list out at approx $50USD for the set of four wires.

Spark Plugs are NGK BUHW-2 , available almost anywhere.
