Where is the model and serial number at on a 9.6 hp wards sea king outboard?

That sounds like a Chrysler built.I think it may be on the outside of the mount bracket.

If a Chrysler they commonly hid them inside the rear starboard lip of the motor pan. Remove the cowl and use a flashlight. Even then they're often a challenge to read.
